The vuvuzela, also known as lepatata (its Tswana name) and stadium horn, is a typical 65 cm (2 ft) plastic blowing horn that produces a loud, distinctive monotone note. It is most used at football matches in South Africa.

The vuvuzela was brought to international attention during the run-up to the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup, both hosted in South Africa. It is called to be banned at football matches by international commentators, players and audiences because the sound drowned out the voices of the commentators.
