“新白領標準”的英文是New standards of Chinese white-collar，中間的Chinese以示是國人的標準，其實這個概念是從英美引進的。 由白領引申出的還有， 金領， 粉領，藍領，灰領，分別是 golden collar， pink collar， blue collar， grey collar。此外，這些詞的形容詞形式都以後加ed構成， white-collared。
