A burndown (release burndown, burndown chart) is a progress chart used in a Scrum project to track project progress against a release plan. The horizontal axis of the burndown shows the release roadmap (sprints), the vertical axis shows the amount of work remaining (story points or man days) at the start of each release, hence Burndown chart tracks burndown at two levels: product backlog (story points or function list points) and sprint backlog (man days). Burndown gets updated at each release.
